The Southern California PGA Foundation had the opportunity to once again participate in the 2013 Northern Trust Open Tickets Fore Charity Program. Thanks to the help of our PGA Professionals, their members, and our SCPGA Junior Tour members the SCPGA Foundation raised $39,470. While 80% of the proceeds will come back to the Foundation, 20% will go to benefit City of Hope, a cancer research hospital and treatment center. The Southern California Section of the PGA of America created the Southern California PGA Foundation to develop and administer junior golf programs as well as an increasingly wide array of other community services throughout the Section. The most notable programs within the Foundation are the SCPGA Junior Tour, a program with over 2200 members and 250 tournaments a year, and Neighborhood Golf, a comprehensive free lesson program that brings golf to Southern California communities.
