Class F status update

The Delegates of the Special Meeting at the PGA Spring Conference of Leaders held March 30 in St. Louis, voted to approve changes to the Class “F” Recovery Process and the length of time a member may remain in Class “F”.

The two Resolutions that were approved will officially become part of the PGA Constitution and Bylaws on July 1, 2011.

The approval of the first Resolution allows members who are in Class “F” to transfer out of Class “F”, once the deficit MSR and an amount equal to the deficit in the new period is earned.

The approval of the second Resolution allows members who are in Class “F” to remain in that classification status for only one period.

You can review the revised Bylaw, effective July 1, 2011, below:

REVISED READING:Article VIII, Professional Development Program, Section 3. Violations

Section 3. Violations

Members who do not satisfy the requirements of the Professional Development Program shall be reclassified as Class “F” Members of the Association at the beginning of the next fiscal year. They shall remain in this classification until they earn the deficit requirements of the previous period and an amount equal to the deficit in the new period. Class “F” Members who do not satisfy these requirements by the end of the Professional Development Program period in which they were transferred to Class “F” shall be terminated from membership.

So long as they are Members of the Association, Class “F” Members may not be transferred into any other classification until they satisfy these requirements.

Members may appeal their classification as Class “F” Members or their termination from membership, as a result of these provisions, to the Board of Control in accordance with the provisions of Article VII.

PGA Professionals’ Mentoring and Coaching Conference Report and Finding

Dear PGA Professional:

The following report is an attempt to summarize the thoughts, ideas, conversations and best practices from the 2010 PGA Professionals’ Mentoring and Coaching Conference.

This report is the result of contributions made by hundreds of PGA Professionals through a series of regional meetings and our National Conference. Thank you to all who participated and contributed to this report.

A special thank you to all of our sponsors without whom we could not host this wonderful event.  PGA Magazine learns a great deal each time we sit down with a group of PGA Professionals and industry-leading companies and the PGA Professionals’ Mentoring and Coaching Conference leads our ability to gather knowledge on the golf industry and pass that information along to all PGA members.

Thank you to our Facilitators who worked long, hard hours to help make this happen. It is a great pleasure to work with individuals who give of their time and their expertise so willingly.

Thank you to The PGA of America whose leadership allows us to continue to develop and execute programs like the PGA Professionals’ Mentoring and Coaching Conference.  The Business Development team helped bring many assets to this program, which helped us once again make it special.

Please click the following link to access the 2010 PGA Professionals’ Mentoring and Coaching Conference Report in an easy-to-use digital format, which requires no downloading of software and will open directly in your Web browser. I hope that you enjoy the Conference Report and are able to apply this valuable and useful information in your own mentoring practices.

Who is watching over your retirement?

We understand that a retirement plan is only relevant when it is thorough and based on your priorities. That is why we’ve created the Retirement Standard—an approach to meeting your retirement needs that includes a lifestyle review, a beneficiary audit, a review of your risks and how you are insured against them, help with Medicare and Social Security elections, and income planning, to name just a few.  At Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, we are setting a new standard for retirement planning.

Michael McGinnis, PGA Life Member, is ready to speak with you.  You can read more about him here, and you can contact him via e-mail or phone at (805) 963-8585.
