DesertTuesday, June 5 @ 2:00pm All orientations will be hosted at Indian Wells Country Club in the Legends Lounge. Please join me in congratulating Lindsey Winch, PGA from Andalusia Country Club for winning the 2012 Desert Chapter Individual Match Play Championship. Lindsey Winch defeated Matt Balesteri in the Finals 2 up. Congratulations to Randy Duncan, Director of Golf at SilverRock Resort for his victory in this year’s “Summer Stroke Play” event. He shot a 3 under-par, 69 to win by two shots. Notables were: Nate Williams, Brian Hughes, Mike Kingsrud and Geoffrey Dean. All tied for 2nd place at 71, 1-under par.
Special thanks to Mike Kingsrud of Orange Whip Trainer for sponsoring this event and presenting players with an opportunity to test out the trainer and take home a computer training DVD. Dear Desert Chapter Members and Apprentices, One of my goals as the desert junior golf chairperson is to create a “Best Practices Manual” for junior golf programs in the desert. This publication will be made available to all of our PGA members and Apprentices. The goal of mine is to create a comprehensive manual with topics such as operating procedures, set-up, golf specific drills, fitness activities, club fitting, etc. One of the keys to a successful junior golf program is having a vast array of golf games, drills, contests, and activities to keep the students excited about the activities at hand. Therefore, I'm writing to ask your support in creating the Best Practices Manual, a wonderful resource for all PGA members. The junior golf best practices manual will be made available online and will be updated on a quarterly basis. In addition to the manual I will also be posting junior golf programs, tournaments anad activities that will be taking place through out the year. If you have a program that you would like listed please send me the details and I will be happy to post it. Please submit in writing to paul.bucy@pga.comany ideas, programs, drills, etc on how to make this manual more successful. This manual will not only aid the professional looking to start a junior golf program, but will also help you greatly enhance the programs currently in place. Thank you in advance for your support.
